Short and sweet

The diagnosis is a deep muscle tear, and I'm on a twice-daily NSAID and once-daily muscle relaxant. I apparently am too stupid to not use my arm while I'm sleeping, and woke up very early this morning in agony. Mr. Shrinking Knitter said I screamed. So now my left arm is in a sling.

Making it kind of hard to type.

If I'm not better in a couple weeks, I'm to go back to the doctor to see what else could be wrong. Of course, I'm hoping for it to start healing very soon.

Dr. C said I could run, but honestly? I really can't. I need both arms to feel comfortable and I think I would screw something else up if I tried.

All in all, I'm not a happy camper, but I'm trying to make the best of it.

Thanksgiving was wonderful here – I had lots of help and everything turned out great. The leftovers have been fabulous and I'm still sugar-free!

Probably won't be posting on quite so regular a basis for a while ... but I'll be reading about all of your adventures!

Take it easy and get better. I agree, without my arms, I don't think I could run.

OUCH! Here's to a speedy recovery (raises class of water)!

I doubt I could run with one arm unless I was running from something.

Sounds like you had a successful Thanksgiving.

OH MY! a deep muscle tear? sounds awful but I know you will recover quickly. Can you knit while wearing a sling? Take care of yourself.

I really miss you when you don't post daily! But take care of yourself, and heal quickly. I suppose knitting is out of the question, too?
Hope you have lots of good books!

Ouch! Sending you sympathy pangs from another "injured" one. I fell on Thanksgiving night (who falls UP the stairs?) and landed on a twisted arm, which aggravated the bad shoulder. Typing is better today but I've basically just lost the weekend to pain and pain management--no fun at all. Hope you are feeling better soon!

Ouch! You're not stupid to be using your arm while sleeping - that's normal - but being in agony in the process is NOT normal, so let's hear it for drugs. The sling will help you not move it accidentally.

Running with only one arm when you're used to having two would be really difficult and I think you're wise to not try it if you think it will be a problem.

Glad Thanksgiving was great for you - you deserve it!

((( gentle hugs )))

OMG! I need both arms too to walk on a treadmill.

I feel bad about this, I suspect it's from the weights.

I'm glad Mr. SK was there to help make up a sling for you. I know that sucks but being immobilized is probably what you need. And no, you're not stupid because your body moves when you're asleep.

Do you have a recumbant bike? You can even get a tiny little bike with wheels and sit in front of the tv set and wheel away. I've seen them at medical shops for $60.

This has to drive you totally crazy. It's so much more worse than a leg injury, that's for sure. Get well!

Oh I'm so sorry to hear about this! I hope you aren't in pain now, and it will heal successfully. Hang in there.

Dang! I can't imagine running with one arm - it would be so lopsided. I hope this clears up soon and you are burning up the tarmac in The Middle of Nowhere soon!
