I didn't see it coming

Well, maybe I did. A little.

I've pretty much spent the last week or so napping or sleeping. Or napping. Or playing computer solitaire. Are you getting the picture here? It helps to be married to a shrink, who has confirmed the diagnosis.

I'm depressed. Clinically. We went over the pharmaceutical options together, and when I go to my doctor on Wednesday I'll be requesting not only a thryoid test but also a complete blood count [to rule out anemia] and some Wellbutrin.

Last week's running schedule was, thankfully, a light one. I was supposed to run four days for a total of just 13 miles; I did 17 in three. I can't imagine how I would feel if I weren't releasing at least a couple of endorphins by running.

I've been forcing myself to post here every day, but I don't think I can keep it up on an every-day basis until I start feeling better. I'll be out of town this weekend, so a longish break is in the offing anyway. And the weekend event is a spiritual retreat – perfect timing, doncha think?

Debbi, PLEASE make sure your doctor tests your free T3 and free T4 and not just your TSH. I was clearly hypothyroid but my TSH never went out of the abnormal range.

Debbi, I know how you feel regarding updating the blog. I couldn't stand the thought of having to come up with something and I took my break in August and I don't update anymore on the weekend.

Hang in there. My thoughts are with you. And enjoy your spiritual retreat.

I have to agree wtih Janet; I know for my thyroid disease (hyPER), they had to do a thyroid resin uptake (??) along with the T3, T4, etc.

Don't worry about writing every day. We all get sick and tired of writing and need a break. Just get better and have some fun. I'm glad you two have figured out one thing that's going on with you. **hugs**

Glad you are getting help when you need it. Depression happens to the best of us... I've been there many times in the past 15 years. Enjoy your retreat and the break.

So sorry to hear this! Don't you think your husband should just provide you with free drugs? I mean, what's the point of being married to a shrink if you don't get the benefits?

Take care of yourself, girlie. Don't worry about posting; we'll all still be here when you get back.

been there, done that (depression) so i completely understand... i was in a mild-funk last week and am thankful it has passed BUT would not hesitate to see the dr. if it lasted more than 2 weeks... i had asked her about wellbutrin last year and think that's the one i would chose, if i decided i needed something... i often wonder how much happier i would be if i were on meds (not that i'm unhappy, just not super-excited ever)...

i hope you feel better soon! :o)

Hope you're soon back to feeling yourself (that is feeling LIKE yourself - not actually FEELING yourself...;-)

My GYN just ordered up a thyroid test for me - didn't really say why - gee, could it be the continued weight gain of the last few years... In any case got the results today and it was "normal" - but now that I see all of the advice from everyone of the T#'s, it makes me wonder.

I did get the news that my other blood work revealed that I have ZERO (the nurse's word) estrogen and am officially in menopause (unfortunately, not the musical).

You know what they say, if it's not one damn thing, it's another damn thing...

Feel better soon. Take the break you need (and DESERVE) and we'll look forward to seeing you whenever you feel like coming back to blogland!
