Mr. Shrinking Knitter and I noticed the wind whipping up Saturday night, and it continued to blow hard all day Sunday. We went to church, then out to dinner, then came home and holed up the rest of the day.
Imagine our surprise when we ventured out yesterday and found this down our road on the piece of property where our pond is:
That tree is at least 30 feet tall, and has been there 30 years. It is one of several – maybe eight or nine – standing majestically along the edge of the road. That only one of them toppled is quite a mystery.
This is about as exciting as things get here in the Middle of Nowhere.

That happened to me in May 2004 when straight line winds hit Tulsa. We had three 30' trees standing together in the backyard - two fell over (thankfully away from the house and onto our fence). Never heard them fall only saw them when I came out of hiding (middle bathroom) with a baby and a 7 year old. Of course hubby was out of town. We had just put our house on the market and were expecting a showing that day.
Wow, that's a pretty big tree, SK. I'm glad that only one of them went down -- and you weren't stranded there.
Your decluttering of hobbies is going very well, IMHO. I have some wool and wooden knitting needles I should send to you. I doubt I'll be using them as I haven't in the past 6 years. :-)
Would you like a small loom too?
